Casements 1.13 Burren 0.8

28 February 2010

After a slow start to their league campaign, Casements came good at home to Down side Burren on Saturday. With the experienced Convery, Doherty and McCarry setting the example it was no surprise that they went into halftime with a comfortable seven point lead - sharpshooter Gerard McAleese being responsible for five of those points.

As Burren narrowed the lead to four points ten minutes into the second half, midfielder Mark Graham, whose direct running at the Burren defence had caused problems throughout the game, finally got his reward when he was upended in the penalty area and proceeded to stroke the resultant penalty home putting the game beyond Burren’s reach.

With this improved performance, management will be expecting more of the same in next weeks final group game against Tyrone side Moy.
