With a starting line-up that featured only four of the team that played in last years county final, it was always going to be an uphill battle for Casements against last years Ulster Club finalists Loup. The home side dominated proceedings in the first half to go in with a halftime lead of 1.7 to 0.1 – debutant Paul Kane being responsible for the away side’s point. The introduction of Casement’s corner forward Gerard McAleese in the second half added a degree of urgency to the forward line particularly with his contribution of a goal and a point in the eighth and twelth minute but the mini revival petered out as Loup again took control and ran out easy winners.
